Boxing: Koki Kameda Defeats Daisuke Naito to Win Title in Second Weight Class

In the 12-round WBC world flyweight championship held in Saitama, Japan on Nov 29, the third-ranked contender Koki Kameda beat current champ Daisuke Naito by unanimous decision to take the belt. This was the second championship for Kameda, who formerly held the light flyweight title but gave it up to move up to flyweight. Neither fighter was able to land a decisive punch in the fight, but the left crosses from the southpaw Kameda gave him a lead in points which proved insurmountable for Naito, who developed a bloody nose and cut over his right eye in the 10th round. The final scoring was 116-112, 117-111 and 117-111 for Kameda. In the post-fight interview, Kameda said, "I want to be a champion for Asia like Pacquiao, a champion that everyone respects and looks up to."
